Which services are offered by the university's outreach centers?

The University of Wisconsin - Whitewater is one of our three partners who made the Whitewater University Innovation Center possible. From the business center on campus to the Community Engagement Center, the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater serves businesses in the region through a variety of outreach centers.

The business outreach centers not only offer faculty and professional staff expertise, but also employ student interns who work on a project basis with businesses to gain applied business experience. The following organizations are affiliated with UW-Whitewater:

  • Cybersecurity Center for Business: To tackle the growing risk of cyber-crime in America’s business ecosystem, the Cybersecurity Center for Business (CCB) offers cybersecurity education, training, and resources for small businesses, educational institutions, and governments.

  • The Fiscal and Economic Research Center (FERC): Do you need assistance with economic impact analysis? FERC helps local businesses, non-profits, and government agencies with economic research and can provide assistance with land-use planning, geographic studies, and public policy analysis.

  • The Institute for Sales Excellence: Looking to hire a sales or marketing intern or graduate? The Institute for Sales Excellence creates opportunities for hands-on learning experiences, while developing the marketability of our students. The center connects employers with students, provides business training, and offers networking opportunities.

  • Institute for Water Business: A place for transdisciplinary action learning, research, and outreach, the Institute for Water Business seeks to engage, educate, and empower stakeholders to identify and successfully respond to regional, national, and international water business issues, challenges, and opportunities.

  • Launch Pad: Are you a student who is looking to start a business? The Launch Pad program is the university’s student accelerator. Students receive startup training, mentorship, access to resources, space at the Whitewater Innovation Center, and independent study credit.

  • Small Business Development Center (SBDC): Do you need a business coach? The local SBDC chapter is part of the statewide network that provides no-cost, confidential consulting and educational programs for entrepreneurs and small business owners.
